So Right LEEDS fuck yeah as Gerard Way would appear to say. I can't be bothered to right a big entry so will list the bands i saw....
Friday
My Chemical Romance-They Did Our Lady Of Sorrows :) Used most of my camera on the Gerard Wayness Turbonegro-didn't watch them much they looked like tits. Alkaline Trio-Ahhh they were fucking awesome... Funeral For A Friend-Got totally squashed....but it was fun. NoFX-Ah now that was funny Iggy and The Stooges-didn't really watch them was tired so i sat. Maximo Park-Was at the front..how energetic can one band be? Incubus-mmm yeah they did wish you were here and Brandon looked damn fine. The Futureheads-Uh oh oh Uh oh oh...enough said. BLOC PARTY-on the barrier was just out of this world. The NME tent was packed. Russel's fringe was on top form and at the end kele came to shake the front row's hands....caz and I spazzed out completely and actually took a picture of our hands...fucking awesome.
Saturday
The Black Velvets-woke up early to get on the barrier...had to listen to the bloody Jem album like twice whilst waiting. They were crazy..
The Dead 60s-Only caught the end of them
Death From Above 1979-The guy looked like Dave Grohl but they got a bit screamy and "omg would you stop screaming?"
THE SUBWAYS-I met them before they came on and they signed this poster for me and were totally lovely....I used a lot of my camera. Was right at the front and they were amazing..I did nearly cry in Mary but shhh.
Elbow-only watched them sitting down at the end .....made me feel sleepy.
The Coral-Were very happy and people were dancing and smiling. I sat down and ate chips but ran into the crowd for Dreaming of You (which we later sung on "riot" night.)
Queens Of The Stone Age-They opened With Go With The Flow :) SO happy and Before Burn The Witch Josh was like "This is my faveourite song...it's about burning witches". bless. him. He did look quite ill though I was worried about him!
The Killers-Why are they so shit live? Is it because they just play their album because they can't be arsed to make an effort or to interact because they know all the little trendies will know all the words so there work is done...yeah i think so.
Kasabian-I went to see them instead of pixies because I wanted to and they know how to play to a crowd. I was so impressed with them I really was and they seemed really appreciative of the fact the tent was packed like Bloc Party were.
Sunday
I woke up all hyper for Kings of Leon :D
Louie-I think they'd be better without the annoying guy with the curly hair who i later saw. He seems to serve no purpose plus the other guy is better and should be in the strokes.
Editors-I got bored so i went to buy a t shirt and a drink but went back to watch them. I liked the guy's voice. Very Ian Curtis.
The Cribs-Now there's a band. They were so energetic and pretty damn good.
NINE BLACK ALPS-Ah I moved right to the front for them. I went to see if they lived up to the hype and my oh my how the did. I jumped around like a crazy type.
Arcitc Monkeys-Why don't they get their own stage...the carling one was packed and I could just about see but my they're sooooo good. I was very happy to see them.
The Others-Ah bless Dom's cotton socks! I was suprised how close to the front I managed to get with all the madness in that tent.
All American Rejects-Yeah i watched from a far. The guy's voice annoyed me "We're so fucking happy to fucking be here at fucking leeds you're so fucking beautiufl" although I thought he said "we're so fucking beautiful." hmm
Roots Manuva-Don't remember but I remember eating chips.
YETI-Ah was so close to the front. John look so happy because the tent was pretty full up.
Razorlight-Of course they were good but I do think it was a bit samey to how they were in Manchester but never the less I sang along like the true fan that I am.
KINGS OF LEON-I swear to god they made my life let alone my weekend. I was sooooo close and it was great because god bless em no one near me was arsed they just wanted to get a good place for Foo Fighters so i had no trouble seeing my babies. Caleb had his hair tied back and looked beautiufl. Jared looked really Jared like with his hair...god I wanted to faint. Matthew looked nice actually in his red shirt and Nathan looked effortlessly cool blowing his bubblegum whilst Jared and Matthew smoked..They Did all of Aha Shake Heartbreak (i think..)Opened with Molly's Chambers, And did Red Morning Light,Happy Alone, SPIRAL STAIRCASE, California Waiting and Trani. Best was just hearing Caleb sing live he's soo good and you could see the emotion in his little face when he sang milk....guess who almost cried..I sang along and didn't care that I seemed to be the only one at my end. Everyone sang along to "You wit your swtichblade posse....I'll get my guns from Souuuuth....we'll take to the yard like a cockfight....four kicks who's struttin now." And "Eiegggghhhhtteeeen baaaalllldinnnnnng starrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrred." But I was suprised how little sang along to the old stuff and milk. Perhaps it was because people were tired and waiting for the Foos. They did Slow Night So Long last and I really just wanted them to stay forever.
Foo Fighters- I didn't think I'd be anywhere near the front but oh my I was! "Can you heaaarrr me? Hear me screaaaminnnnnng?" ohhh look Dave Grohl has come on stage. How amazing is all I can say. My hero, Everlong -in which dave really didn't have to sing were amazing as was monkey wrech and one by one and times like these.....Dave even burped bless him. I went totally mental I really did and was surrounded by these big men so i didn't get pushed too much. but alas I lost my camera at some point so I had to stay til it had cleared and I found it...well i hope it's it anyway.....will soon find out.
The riot was awful mind....amusing tales of poor emos catching fire though. |
